HCA Dress Code
While at the Academy all students are required to abide by the dress code. Students’ clothing must be size appropriate.
Academy Girls K-4 to 5th grade (suggested: www.hannahlise.com):
Shirt: Solid navy collared polo, short or long sleeve
-Shirt is worn tucked-in
-Pullover sweater or button (no missing buttons please) cardigan of medium tan khaki or solid navy color may be worn
Skirt: Medium tan khaki color may have elastic waistband but no beading or decorative work
Jumper: Medium tan khaki color
Shorts: Medium tan khaki or navy shorts under skirt or jumper
Tights: White/khaki/navy (tights will require medium tan khaki or navy shorts to be worn under skirt/jumper at recess for modesty)
Socks: Dress or knee socks of medium tan khaki, navy or white color worn at least 4” above the ankle. Natural/White/Khaki/Navy tights or hose may be worn under skirts
Shoes: Dress flat shoe of brown, black or navy color, not open-backed, open-sided, boot or bowling (two tone) style
Academy Girls Level 1 to 12th grade (suggested: www.hannahlise.com):
Shirt: Solid navy collared polo or dress blouse, short or long sleeve
• Shirt is worn tucked-in and will not be open below the collar bone
• Plain pullover sweater or button (no missing buttons please) cardigan of medium tan khaki or solid navy color
and worn with hands visible
• Shirts and sweaters may have no logos or zippers
• No sweatshirts allowed
• Camisole required for modesty
Skirt: Medium tan khaki color with no pockets and no fully elastic waistband nor beading or decorative work and will be worn covering the navel (the natural waist)
Minimum length is mid-knee (when kneeling on the floor the hem touches); maximum length is top of the shoe
Skirt slit length is mid-knee and may be sewn completely shut (no tacking a single spot at the edge of the hem)
Slips required for modesty
Socks: Dress or knee socks of medium tan khaki, navy or white color worn at least 4” above the ankle.
Natural/White/Khaki/Navy tights or hose may be worn under skirts.
Shoes: Dress shoe of brown, black or navy color, not open-backed, open-sided, boot or bowling (two tone) style. May have no more than a two inch heel (measured with the sole and the heel)
Academy Boys K-4 to 12th grade:
Shirt: Solid navy collared polo, or dress shirt, short or long sleeve
• Shirt is worn tucked-in
• Shirts and sweaters may have no logos or zippers
• Pullover sweater or button (no missing buttons please) cardigan of medium tan khaki or solid navy color may be
worn
Pants: Medium tan khaki color dress pants may have two pockets in front and back
• No Low-Rise Pants
Pant hem length will be no longer than top of shoe heel
• Pant worn no more than 2” below navel
Belt: Dark brown or black leather dress belt of no more than 1 to 1 ½” wide with buckle of similar proportion
Socks: Dress socks solid dark brown, black or navy color worn at least 4” above the ankle
Shoes: Dress shoe of dark brown or black color, not open-backed, boot or bowling (two tone) style
Academy Activity Fridays and Non-Academic Weeks Boys and Girls K-4 to 12th grade attire:
No clothing allowed that portrays the dirty look, or are bleach spotted or streaked, ripped or frayed, have
attention-grabbing types of pictures or statements, excessive logos or symbol appearance (with the exception of
the Heartland associated tee shirt)
Shirt: Plain tee shirt or Heartland associated tee shirt (example: Psalty, Mission or 4H shirts)
Shorts: Knee length
Pants: Jeans or athletic pants (tops may not be rolled down and must fit appropriately)
Belt: Plain black or brown leather as needed
Socks: Required
Shoes: Tennis shoe or casual shoe, closed toe and heel
